COOPUKWENYA is a French acronym standing for Cooperative Ukwezi de Nyagatare and it is located in Nyagatare district, Karama sector, Ndego cell and Ndego centre village. This pig cooperative gathers 10 members including 6 men and 4 women. The cooperative raises 8 adult pigs (1 boar and 7sows) and 9 young pigs belonging to local and exotic breeds. The prolificacy of females is of 6 piglets per litter. The stream water is located downward at 40 m from the piggery farm while the tape water is at 300m.
The piggery farm is extended on 6 m of width and 13 m of length and has 12 pens arranged on two rows separated by a feeding alley. The small quantity of collected manure is used for fertilizing field crops such as maize and bananas. The feedstuffs used in pig feeding comprise rice bran, grasses, taro leaves and roots, sweet potatoes leaves and vines. The cooperative members expect to grow maiz
